SENIOR NEWS:

  • BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL SENIORS:  It is important that all seniors focus on academics, behavior, and community during their final semester of high school.  Seniors may be tempted to make poor choices during their last year of high school.  Unwise choices jeopardize the senior’s education and can, sometimes, even endanger a life.  Expectations of all seniors remain high through the graduation ceremony.  They need to achieve academically, behave appropriately, and be positive, active members of the community.  Those who chose to not meet these expectations will be disciplined.  Disciplinary action may include not participating in the commencement ceremony.  D. Kirksey

  • CREDIT REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION:  Members of the Class of 2014 are required to earn 49 specific credits to graduate.  Parents, please contact the academic records counselor, Ms. Politi, at 402-557-3394 or julie.politi@ops.org if you have questions about your son or daughter’s credit standing.  You are also encouraged to keep in touch with individual teachers.  Teachers may be contacted by phoning 402-557-3300, and leaving a message for them to return your call, or you can email them directly by going to the Central High website at www.ops.org/high/central > CONTACT US.  Grade and attendance information are available on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  D. Kirksey

  • DEBTS OWED TO THE OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:  Seniors with outstanding debts, including library fines, are not allowed to receive a diploma or participate in any graduation activity.  If you owe Central High School or any OPS school money, please see that the debt is paid as soon as possible.  Fees owed can be viewed on the Parent Portal at https://campus.ops.org/campus/portal/ops.jsp.  The deadline for paying all outstanding debts is Tuesday, May 13.  Contact any main office secretary at 402-557-3300, if you have questions about any fine other than library fines.  Library fines are exclusively kept by Mrs. Eilers, CHS Librarian.  She must also be contacted by seniors about any OPS library fine that might have been incurred.  Contact Mrs. Eilers at 402-557-3316 or beth.eilers@ops.org.  D. Kirksey

SENIOR NEWS CONTINUED:

  • GRADUATION TICKETS:  Tickets will be required for admission to the graduation ceremony.  Each graduate will receive six free tickets and will be able to purchase six additional tickets for $3.00 per ticket.  Tickets are available through May 14 in the School Store.  The School Store is open before and after school, and over the lunch periods.  To purchase tickets, seniors must bring the filled out “CHS Commencement Ticket Request Form” signed by parent/guardian.  Please be very selective when purchasing tickets for relatives and friends.  Graduation is a very special event for the seniors and their families.  It is expected that everyone who attends the ceremony will respect the rights of other guests to be able to hear their graduate’s name being read and to see him/her walk across the stage.  D. Kirksey
