How to prepare for XC
- During the summer we will have voluntary team runs Monday-Thursday at 7:00 a.m.
- The voluntary runs are an excellent way to join in with other teammates to train together, get to know one another, and keep each other going during the hot summer months.
Equipment Checklist:
- Your shoes should be designed for running and have very little wear on them. This piece of equipment may be the most critical element in maintaining your health.
- Each day wear and bring proper clothing for the conditions. This may mean lightweight clothes at the beginning of the season, while later in the season it may mean wearing a jacket, hat and gloves.
- Bring a water bottle every day to practice.
Daily preparation for practice:
- Come to practice! Missing practice, without notifying Coach Lodge and getting it excused, will result in missing the next meet.
- Be on time!! Extra crunches and push-ups for each minute late. People who are chronically late can jeopardize competing in the meets.
-
Wear running shoes. Shoes that are designed for other sports and are worn running can lead to injury. If purchasing new shoes go to Peak Performance, and tell them you are with Central XC and they will give you a 15% discount.
-
Wear light weight and breathable clothing, because much of our season involves participation in hot weather.
-
Bring a water bottle every day. When we are doing distance runs they can be used to re-hydrate immediately after running, and when we are doing a workout away from the parks, the water bottles will be transported to that location to use throughout the workout.
