Congratulations
to:

The Power Lifting team for taking 1st place at the Sioux Falls O'Gorman Invite.  Kevin McNear, Lupe Carrazco, Adonis Johnson and Randall Owens took 1st place in their weight classes.  Randall Owens won the Outstanding Lifter award.  Adonis Johnson broke the school record with a squat of 615 pounds.

The Science Bowl team for finishing in 3rd place in the State of Nebraska.  Team members are Josh DeWitt, Caleb Koch, Qianli Wang, Eric Jizaba, and Alex Tran.

All-City Orchestra performers:  Violin 1: September Symens, Mollee Brummond, Caleb Koch, Hallie Henderson. Violin 2: Joshua DeWitt, Torrell Booker. Cello: Emma Erickson, Rosemary Brusnahan, Brenna Paulson, Kira Samson. String Bass: Imagine Uhlenbrock. Percussion: Luke Compton

All-City Band performers:  Flute: Emily Epperson, Hannah Grossman, Mia Matlock, Zoe May. Oboe: Elizabeth deLaittre. Clarinet: Isaac Thomas, Jasmyn McAlister, Qianli Wang, Sam Bertino. Bassoon: Maria Marquez, Josh Kain. Alto Saxophone: Michaela Hough, Adam Lacroix, Ayomide Adekunle. Tenor Saxophone: Michael Griffin. National Merit Finalists Rosemary Brusnahan, Emily Epperson, Eric Jizba, Catherine Larsen, Carmen Lau, Theresa Lomneth, Taylor Olson and Alexandria Tran.  This is the most Finalists at Central since 1993.

The Symphonic Band for being selected to perform for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Convention March 5 at 11:00 am in Kimball Hall at UNL

The Boys Basketball team for winning the Metro Holiday Tournament

Tim Gulizia for winning 1st Place in the under 1200 section of the Great Plains Chess Tournament

JROTC for scoring 592.5 points out of a total of 600 on their annual inspection by the U.S. Army.  This is the highest score in the District in 9 years.  Points are earned by the Color Guard and Drill Team performances, inspection of all JROTC students, and a presentation by the cadet leadership.

All of the Central High students who made
honor roll first quarter.

The Chess Club for hosting the largest chess tournament in Nebraska.  316 players from 81 schools competed for 112 trophies.  Matt Whitsett finished in 3rd place in the 11th grade section.  Tim Gulizia finished in 2nd place in the under 1200 rated section.

Elijah Skolfield, Jasmyn  McAlister and Samuel Philip for being named Semifinalists in the 2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Commended students in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program - Allyson DeBoer, Jesse Reno and Elijah Skolfield.

The Eagle Marching Band for receiving an Excellent rating at the Omaha Marching Invitational on October 17th.
