| Hallway traffic jams pose problems | The mess of teenagers trying desperately to wriggle their way through crowded hallways is reminiscent of a scene from the end of “Finding Nemo”: a huge school of fish has been captured in a industrial-sized fishing net, and all the fish are frantically swimming towards the net’s small holes, the only available exits. In the same way, Burke students attempt to squeeze themselves through narrow doorways, squirm in-between the massive backpacks of other students, and push through solid walls of students. | | DEEW Week promotes awareness | | | AP test deadline approaches | It’s that time of year again; time to register for AP Exams. The final day to turn in your exam orders is March 18. If you are currently dual-enrolled in an AP class, an exam will be ordered for you whether you turn in your order form or not. |

| Spring break is just around the corner | When asked what comes to mind when they hear the words “spring break,” students responded with everything from vacation, sleep, no homework, friends, and fun to swimming, stargazing, freedom, sleepovers, and sun. Whatever spring break means to you, the week off from school is just around the corner for students and teachers of Burke High. The much anticipated week of March 22 - 26 is fast approaching and students have a plethora of activities planned. | | Teens speak out about driving under the influence of texts | Ever wondered who’s the better driver, guys or girls? Burke girls seem to think that girls are better drivers, while the guys think they’re more skilled behind the wheel. | | Seniors consider entering military | As this 2010 school year quickly winds down, seniors all over America are beginning to realize how close adulthood is to becoming a reality. One choice has brought about a lot of discussion in families and among friends: enrolling in the military. |

| Boys soccer to experience "Baptism by Fire" | “Baptism by Fire,” the phrase Assistant Coach of the Boys Soccer Team, Coach Anderson, coined for the boys soccer season this year. In their season opener, the “Dawgs” will play their rivals Omaha South, at South as the first varsity game ever to be played at South’s stadium. This game will put all their pre-season conditioning to the test, as well as new Varsity members that came up from JV, after losing so many seniors to graduation last year. | | Cheer team places second at state | On Feb. 20, the dance team and competition cheer squad competed in the Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Competition held in Grand Island. The cheerleaders placed second in the Class A Sidelines Division. | | Olympics introduce curling to many | Combine ice hockey and with shuffleboard, and you've got curling. |

| Alice in Wonderland Remix proves interesting | Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, which came out March 5, stars Mia Wasikowska as Alice, a break out role for the Aussie actress. | | Bon Jovi concert rocks Omaha | The Qwest Center filled to its max last night as fans made their way to their seats, ecstatic to see Jon Bon Jovi. He took the stage in Omaha again, after performing here in concert last year. The opening band, Dashboard Confessional, pleased the crowd, especially the younger audience. | | Dance is a sport | Hours are spent on conditioning every week. Practice lasts for at least an hour every day, but most of the time practice is longer. There is no such thing as an “off season.” This is my sport, and my sport is dance. |
