Athletic Director's Message

Athletics Director's Message
A great athletic tradition is not built overnight; it takes the hard work and dedication of many young men and women as well as the loyal support of parents. Members of Bryan athletic teams have the opportunity to become a part of a tradition that is one of the finest in the area.
At Bryan we must have a sincere desire to win, but only with honor to our athletes, our school, and our community. Such a tradition is worthy of the best efforts of all concerned.
I believe that the fundamental purpose of athletics is to provide educational experiences that will enable students to develop their talents and capabilities, to understand and recognize the dignity and worth of each individual, and to enhance an athletes' sense of responsibility, competitiveness, tolerance, and sportsmanship.  Furthermore, I believe that athletics are an integral part of the total program of education. Athletic programs provide experiences that will help young men and women develop physically, mentally, and emotionally into better persons and citizens.
Yours in Sport;
Chris Loofe
SPORTSMANSHIP

Defined by Webster Dictionary as
• “Conduct becoming to one participating in a sport.” (As fairness, respect for one’s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing)
FAN EXPECTATIONS
1.      Keep comments positive!
2.      NO Profanity!
3.      Cheers or chants directed at a player, coach, official or other fans that are racial, sexist, threatening or obscene in nature will not be tolerated.
4.      No one is allowed to sit or stand on the first row of bleachers!
5.      Recognize outstanding performance and exceptional effort no matter who achieves.
6.      Accept the outcome of the game.
7.      Finally….Let the coaches do the coaching, let the players do the playing and let the officials do the officiating.

Attending a High School contest should be fun for the participants and the fans. WE want and expect to have the reputation as a difficult place to play because of the amount of support we give our team and not because of the disrespect we show to our opponents. Remember that our teams also play “on the road” and we will expect to be treated with respect in their buildings.

IT’S GREAT TO BE A BRYAN BEAR!
