The Marksmanship Team consists of skilled marksman, both male and female, that compete against other schools in sanctioned matches. They use air pellet pistols and air pellet rifles. Each school in the District is authorized to organize and train a marksmanship team. These teams are designed to inspire a wholesome spirit of rivalry between each member and each high school in the OPS district as well as a solid appreciation for firearms safety. All cadets are eligible to volunteer for the team provided they meet the following requirements:
- Be approved by the AI and have the desire, motivation, and capability of becoming a good marksman.
- Agree to participate in rifle/pistol matches to the best of one's ability, with full commitment to the team and to safety.
- Receive issue of, wear, maintain, and return the Cadet uniform before issue of grade and / or credit are issued at the discretion of the SAI IAW CC Regulation 145-2.

Activities/Competitions: Both "shoulder to shoulder" and "pistol matches" will be conducted at local, state, or national levels. Upon successful completion of a record fire course, cadets may qualify for more than one marksmanship award. Marksmanship competitions are conducted under the rules of the National Rifle Association.
