School Calendar Change for OPS High School Students

To meet the required hours of instructional time required by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), OPS high school students will attend school for the entire day on Thursday, March 4th (additional 1/2 day) and Friday, March 5th (additional full day). These days were originally scheduled to accommodate third quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences. Additionally, the high school day will be extended by 15 minutes every morning beginning Thursday, February 18th to Friday, May 21st.

Should additional snow days occur in upcoming months, non-student days may need to be rescheduled to meet the NDE instructional time requirement. This proposed schedule provides the flexibility needed due to graduation dates, final exams and end of year activities.

Welcome
Bryan High School is located at 4700 Giles Road in Bellevue, Nebraska. The diverse student population includes students in grades 9-12. Bryan High School has built its curriculum around sixteen career clusters. Each cluster is intended to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to complete high school, to begin work on a post-secondary degree or to enter the world of work. Bryan has replaced the traditional period of time by a block schedule. Instead of the standard 45-minute classes, Bryan has instituted a unique school day consisting of four 90-minute blocks of time. Students have only four classes per day and now earn in eighteen weeks the same amount of credit that would have taken a year under the traditional approach. Recent building renovations have resulted in a four-classroom addition, additional computers, and a new electronic signboard. Bryan offers its students an excellent educational program in a unique organizational format.
