Brett Favre is back and he’s got a new look, purple and gold. Last Sunday I was watching the Vikings go head to head with Kansas City in the second week of pre-season football and I just could not wait to see what Farve was going to do behind center, after all he was only with the team for a short time before the game. I was anticipating him to have a terrible game with a couple sacks leaving him senseless, but I did not get a chance to see that because he was only in the game for eight plays, although it did feel good to see him get hit hard to the turf in the first few minutes of the game plus he only completed one pass for minimal yardage. Sadly that is not enough for me judge him on.

     I personally think Farve should have stopped his roller coaster ride of a career last year when he first announced his retirement with the Packers. He put the Jets into a whole because he only stayed around for one year, New York had high hopes for him but he really did not do much for the franchise, and frankly who really expected him to? I do not think it is fair for Favre to have the starting job handed to him, he should have to work for it like everybody else on the team. Football is a hard nosed sport that guys have to work hard for in order to some clock. Instead of complaining he should work.  Does anybody remember why Favre decided not to come back to Green Bay last year? It was because he was not going to get the starting position handed over to him he did not want to have to work for playing time. That is why I would have like to see him get pounded Sunday, I would see it as a consequence for wanting everything so easy.

     But while I was watching the game on Sunday one player who really stood out and had a great day was last year’s starter Tarvaris Jackson. He is a very talented quarterback he is younger and more versatile than Farve, plus he is a dual threat who can beat you with his arm and his legs. It would be wrong for Favre to take Jackson’s spot just because of what his name is.
