As dusk descends upon downtown Omaha loud speaker bumping music and screams pierce the otherwise quiet streets. The cause is not what you may assume, no one is being harmed, purses still lie in the hands of their owner’s but there is one thing for sure, Mystery Manor is open for business.
Upon entering the house I was quite impressed by new characters, a mafia lord practically straight out of the Godfather greeted you in the front hall as the history of the house was explained. Endless staircases, dark crevices and corners met me at every turn. I couldn’t help but jump and scream each time the unexpected scare arose. I’ve been to haunted houses for years but Mystery manor has been the only one to keep me coming back for more, even in the same season.
I observed that all rooms had their own atmosphere and level of fear which is what manor owner Wayne Sealy has focused on.
“The house is only engaging when the people engage,” said Sealy. “We have pop scares, startles, blood, something for everyone.”

Going through the house was just like entering a nightmare, awful creatures that I could never have imagined surround me and from room to room I never know what is going to happen next. One of the best aspects of the house is that anyone can go through it twice in one night and every time is different. You may think you know what is going on in that room but each time something changes. I was lucky enough to walk through twice and every time was better than that before it.
Attractions like Bobo the Killer Clown who danced outside the front yard and the 65 ft. slide that takes you down three stories in the matter of 2.5 seconds keep Mystery Manor on top of its game. Those were definitely a big part of the Mystery Manor experience.
Another plus to the manor is the cause they fight for, Matt’s Dream Foundation. This foundation is on a mission to “develop a resource to join concerned parents and families to work together to bring about change regarding alcohol issues.” Proceeds from the manor go straight to Matt’s Dream Foundation. All characters are volunteers to make this possible.
I give Mystery Manor 4.5 stars because they yet again did not disappoint. Making a trip to house is definitely one to be considered. The manor is now open until October 31. Doors open around dusk (about 7:30). You can check out more on
