Take the Hill

A Brief description . . .

This is not your ordinary summer school. In fact, it will not be called summer school; it will be referred to as “Take the Hill” Camp. This camp will target incoming 9th graders and be the first step in “Taking the Hill”.   Students will learn and use leadership, team work, and technology skills to collaborate and complete a high level service learning project consistent with the Benson Magnet theme. Life skills that are also important for success will also be incorporated as a theme. These include fitness and nutrition, community service, self confidence & camaraderie. Reading, writing and math will be incorporated but not emphasized as a main theme. This camp is designed to be hands-on, interactive, relevant, and fun. The goal is to have students enter their freshman year with the confidence and other tools that they need to succeed in high school.

At the end of camp students will develop a personal plan of action (Goals) for themselves that will be monitored throughout their freshman year at Benson High School Magnet. They will also set team goals that will be monitored. Incentives will be provided as goals are met.
