Money for a college education is readily available for any student who wishes to pursue it.
There are several types of financial aid:
1. Scholarships are awarded based on merit (grades, achievements, activities, accomplishments) from various schools, businesses and organizations and do not have to be paid back.
2. Grants are awarded based upon financial need and do not have to be repaid.
3. Loans are also available but must be repaid after the student completes college.
4. Work-Study allows the student to work on campus while attending college.
5. Seniors need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for the above grants, loans ans work-study. (see links to the left)
6. Families may also save for college using the College Savings Plan for Nebraska.
Students often receive offers in the mail providing financial aid and scholarship search services for a fee.
