The CAD Design Engineering Program at Benson Magnet Center reaches into the heart of the Magnet theme by being a project based class that utilizes cutting edge technology. The CAD Design Engineering Lab has 25 computers loaded with the most recent editions of industry leading software by Autodesk and Adobe. The software we use includes Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Autodesk Viz as well as other productivity software. 

In the past three years, students have been successful in competitions amongst both OPS and Metropolitan Area Schools.  Students in the CAD 1-2 course  have earned first place honors at the OPS Industrial Technology Competition Day in the Beginning CAD competition for the past three years in a row.  In addittion, Benson has seen an increase in both participation and success in the Metropolitan Omaha Builder's Association Architectural Awards Program.  Over the past three years students in the CAD 3-8 courses have earned 7 Honorable mentions, 1 second place and 1 first place.
