Course Description
Civic Design is a seminar course in which students lead the way.  Using photography, video, and any other means they find necessary to complete their task, the students work within the community to help make historic Benson a better place.  In 2007-08, students took on such problems as gun violence, abandoned homes, community beautification, and community pride.

In 2008-09, students have decided to tackle community regeneration, poverty, crime, and the epidemic of STDs.

Document your neighborhood

This is a joint project between Benson High School Magnet and Buffett Middle School Magnet.

Benson's Civic Design students are asking some of Buffet Middle School's students to help them document some of Omaha's communities through photography.

The goal is to take photographs of both the positive and negative aspects of the community in the hopes of making the students and their families more aware of the community in which they live.

There will be a joint art show, the details that have yet to be decided, at the end of the year, where all participants will have the opportunity to show their artwork.
