Information Night for kindergarten and ECSE parents only (no children please) will be held on Thursday, August 7th from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  During this evening, parents will have an opportunity to learn about curriculum, classroom expectations and procedures, and ask questions.  Curriculum Night for all other grade levels will be held in September.   


There will be a Back to School Night on Monday, August 11th from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  This is a good opportunity to walk the path your child will walk if he/she will be walking to and from school each day, to meet your child’s teacher(s), to visit your child’s classroom, and to visit with friends and new families in the neighborhood.  Lunch money, health information, etc. may also be turned in during this evening.



Standing Bear Elementary School is located at 15860 Taylor Street, and meets the needs of the students of northwest Omaha. The facility was built in 2005 and is named after Ponca Chief Standing Bear. The school offers programs in Gifted and Talented, Special Education, English as a Second Language, and Speech to its approximately 550 students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grades.

The Standing Bear Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, Adopt-A-School Partners, and parents provide volunteer and financial resources for academic and extracurricular opportunities. Strong support from parents, staff, and the community, help support excellence in education.

Standing Bear's staff is committed to creating a positive atmosphere for academic, social, and behavioral success for all students. Through differentiated instruction, students are learning to become life-long learners.
