Welcome to the Gifted & Talented homepage!!! Students are directly served on cycle days 4 & 9.

Sometimes the line between a bright child and a child considered to have high ability is a bit fuzzy. Take a look at the chart below. Hopefully the characteristics of a High Ability Learner will become clearer. Please consider that the characteristics below are only meant to be a guide for understanding, and are not intended for the identification of a high ability learner.

When thinking about whether or not a child may be a very bright learner or a gifted learner, please consider the following characteristics.
Bright Gifted
Knows the answers      
Asks the questions
Is interested                                                                             
Is highly curious
Is attentive  Is mentally and physically involved 
Has good ideas
Creative - wild, silly ideas
Answers the questions  Discusses in detail 
Works hard  Unfocused - yet tests well 
Top group  Beyond the top group 
Listens with interest  Strong feelings and opinions 
Learns with ease  "Already knows" a lot about interest 
6-8 repetitions for mastery  Quick learning - one or two repetitions 
Understands ideas  Constructs abstractions 
Enjoys peers  Mature - seeks intellectual peers 
Grasps the meaning  Draws inferences 
Completes assignments  Initiates projects 
Is receptive  Is intense 
Copies accurately  Creates a new design 
Enjoys school  Enjoys learning 
Absorbs information  Manipulates information 
Technician  Inventor 
Good Memorizer  Good Guesser
