Skinner Elementary - Omaha Public Schools

My name is Dustin Driever.  I have been teaching at Skinner Magnet Center since August of 2000.  I am very excited to be teaching the engineering program.

Some of the programs I teach include:

Specials grades 2-6:

2nd grade----Levers and Pulleys

3rd grade---- Wheel & Axles and Inclined Planes

4th grade----Bridges

5th grade----Gears

6th grade----Sketchup, AOE (Academy of Engineering), Real Bridges

5th and 6th Grade pullouts:

5th grade will focus on the AOE set.  We will be working with Simple Machines, Gear Train Systems, and Power Transfer Series.

6th grade will focus on our AOR (Academy of Robotics) set.

Electives 2nd-6th:

Some of the electives I offer include:

  •  On your marks, get set, go!!!

Come enjoy the fun of building and racing different K’NEX vehicles.  You and your team will even be responsible for designing and creating your own vehicle.  Come find out which team will be the winner of the coveted golden certificate.

  • Coasting into Engineering
The ultimate experience at any amusement park is the roller coaster – it’s fast, it’s thrilling, it’s exhilarating, and it serves as a great engineering project.  Explore speed, distance, and time as you discover which elements of the coaster are fastest.
  • Forces, Energy & Motion in Engineering

On your marks, get set, go!!!  Learn all about Forces, Energy, & Motion while building and testing dragsters and other powered vehicles.  This fun elective allows you to build and test using K’Nex blocks to see how different forces have an effect on the distance your vehicle will travel.

I would love to discuss engineering with you.  You can contact me by email at or call 453-6857 and ask for me.
