Welcome!

My name is Susan Leavitt, and I am so excited to be at Skinner Magnet Center. I have been away from elementary education for the last 10 years, but I am so happy to be back. If you would like to learn a little more about me you can visit some of my other web sites.

At Skinner, I am teaching Accelerated Math to 2nd through 6th grades. In addition to Accelerated Math, I also have a class called Topic Math for each grade level.  Image of Dancing AppleEach class at a grade level will send two students to be involved the topic for that math class.

I taught at the College of Saint Mary as full time faculty and adjunct faculty for over 10 years. I teach in the Business Information Systems department and the College of Education. This is a link to a web site portfolio. I created this site as an example for the students in a class called Integrating Technology Into the Classroom. I teach this course to graduate and ungraduate students in the College of Education.

Up until December of 2008, I worked with my husband, John Lortz, at the Senior Health Foundation. We developed curriculum, wrote training manuals, set up computer labs, trained instructors, and taught senior citizens on how to use the computer. We self-published 9 training manuals  and numerous handouts to accompany our classes.
