               What is Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader is a reading management system that gets students enthusiastic about reading books.

 How does it work?

Students take STAR reading test to determine their reading levels.  One book is chosen on that level to read.  Once read, a student may test on the content of that book.  If they pass, they either stay on the same level or move up a bit to the next level.  If they do not pass, they may try again (with their teacher's permission) or choose another book on a bit of a lower level.

 What is the benefit?

Students and teachers gain valuable information

about the student's reading level and comprehension skills.

Students get excited to read more books.

Teachers can easily and accurately keep track of their students' progress.
