Sherman Elementary, named for General William Tecumseh Sherman, is located at 5618 North 14th Avenue. The current Sherman Elementary building was built in 1927 and was remodeled in 2004. As an academy school, Sherman boasts small class sizes of approximately 15 students in primary classes and 20 students in the intermediate classes. Currently, Sherman Elementary is home to over 275 students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Two Resource teachers, a Reading teacher, Two English as Second Language teachers, and a Native Indian Centered Education teacher assist in meeting the needs of all students.
