We are working hard in first grade!

This quarter we will learn many things:

Reading: We will be reading many, many books in first grade. Right now we are focusing on thinking while we read and finding the characters, setting, problem, and solution.

Math: We are learning to ad up to 10 and write our numbers to 100. Soon we will be moving into harder addition problems and subtraction.

Social Studies: We are learning about communities and people in the community who help us. We will also learn about people who made a difference in the world.

Science: At the moment we are studying soils, we will soon be learning about man-made and natural resources.

Writing: We are writing books! We are learning about planning a story and making illustrations that go with our stories. We are also focusing on punctuation.
