Home of the Pinewood Panthers
Pinewood School is the only multi-age school in the Omaha Public School District and is home to approximately 270 students in grades pre-kindergarten through sixth. Students are in full-day grade PreK/K, 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 classrooms, and are with their teachers for two years.
The multi-age program is the heart and soul of the school. Pinewood believes it is the ideal instructional delivery system for everyone involved. Students become a community of learners who receive instruction on all standards with an emphasis on readiness, especially in the areas of math and reading. Learning in a multi-age school is more like a path to be traveled, rather than grade level stair steps. Students are placed along the path based on their readiness. Differentiated instruction is evident throughout the building and is a natural offshoot of the multiage program. Thus, Pinewood provides appropriate instruction for struggling students to high-ability learners.
Parents and guardians are a valued part of the Pinewood family. Pinewood has many opportunities for parents to be involved in grade-level Family Nights throughout the year. Traditional events occur at Pinewood School, such as Back-to-School Night, Open House, Student-led Conferences, the Grandparent Tea, the Holiday Program, and Field Day to name a few. The WatchDOGS (Dads Of Great Students) program is another wonderful way for fathers to be involved in the school. Parents and guardians are always welcome at Pinewood School!
