 I have taught at two other schools before coming to Pawnee in '99. I have a Master's from UNO.  My husband is Cliff and we have six children and eight grandchildren. I love teaching ALL students new knowledge in the library and the lab. All projects completed in the lab have so much background knowledge in researching and resourcefulness that these projects make my day! I also love adding new URLs for students to use  on the website I maintain for Pawnee. Pawnee's PIC also has a link on http://www.facebook.com for all students and parents to share information about our school. This link can only be accessed from your home!

Library/Media

This is my third year at Pawnee.  My husband Tom and I have three children.  I am currently finishing up my Master's degree in Reading.  I love sharing my love for learning and reading with my students.  In my spare time, I spend time enjoying my family, reading, and being creative with painting, sewing, and gardening.  I look forward to yet another exciting year in the library.

Counselor

 Hello! My name is Carey Jacobs and this is my first year as a Guidance Counselor.  I am excited to start this wonderful career at Pawnee Elementary.  My education includes a BS in psychology and child development from UNO.  I earned my teaching certificate from College of Saint Mary’s and my masters degree in school counseling from UNO.  Previously, I taught seventh grade Language Arts.  I have been married to my husband, Bryan, for four years, and we have a son, Mason, who is two-years old.  We enjoy going to the lake, swimming, and riding bikes.  I can’t wait to start a new and exciting year!

Music

Hi!  My name is Julie Dohmen and I am the Music Specialist here at Pawnee Elementary School.  When I am not teaching school, my husband, Duane, and I are busy taking care of our two girls, Hannah, 7 and Emily, 6.  During our summer we play outside, go swimming and grill out.

Physical Education

 I have been teaching PE for what seems like forever. My wife and I have a zillion boys. I like to fish and pick roses!

Art

Hello. This will be my thirteenth year with OPS and my sixth year teaching Art at Pawnee. I love teaching art! When people make art they express themselves in a very personal and unique way. This is a joy to behold! My wonderful husband, Joe, is also an art teacher. We share lots of ideas for art projects. When I am not teaching art, I enjoy making my own artworks! I also love cooking, baking, reading, listening to music, watching movies, traveling, and being entertained by our cat, Cinnamon.

Hello, this is my fourth year at Pawnee and my second as Technology Facilitator.  My wife, Sarah, and I have one son Jake who keeps us very busy.  I enjoy teaching at Pawnee to see all the new ways that students are using technology to help them learn.  Technology is always changing and the students teach me so much.

 I have lived in Omaha, NE all my life. I began teaching ESL at Pawnee in 2001. Before coming to Pawnee I taught Special Education working with Visually Impaired students, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and ESL. My total number of years with OPS is 29. I have been married to my wonderful husband Rob for almost 30 years. We have two daughters, Carly and Ashley, both in their twenties. We have one son-in-law, Joe, two grand-dogs, Chewy and Wolfer, and a grand-cat, Sampson. I love teaching and watching children learn.

Resource & ESL

 I have worked at three other Omaha Public Schools prior to coming to Pawnee in 2006.  I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  I enjoy working with English Language Learners because they are so inquisitive and motivated to learn new things.  My husband and I have two children named Elly and Carson.  We enjoy camping and being outside whenever possible.


 

Language Resource

 This is my second year at Pawnee. I have taught at another school in Neb, as well as schools in New Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas. I am married w/one daughter and two WONDERFUL granddaughters. I have enjoyed this year at Pawnee, and look forward to next year.

Speech

 This is my second year at Pawnee.  Prior to working at Pawnee, I worked as a Speech Pathologist in a private practice setting with older patients.  This has been a nice change of pace!!  I have been married to my husband, Chad for 5 years.  We have two beautiful children, Mya who is 3 and Boden who was born April 27th.  I look forward to this school year!!
