Miller Park Elementary returned to its permanent location at 5625 N
28th Ave. in August 2002. For the past two years, Miller Park staff and
students have been housed in a temporary building while the school
underwent a complete renovation. Miller Park's mission statement calls
for a caring learning environment that reaches out to homes and
community. Miller Park is a Village Concept School. Volunteers from the
community serve as positive African American male and female role
models through the Greeter and Nia Guardian Program. In the spring of
2001, Miller Park was also identified as a Native American Critical
Mass Initiative School. The West Omaha Kiwanis Club and the Diamond K
Readers donate time each week to read with students. Since the 1996-97
school year, Miller Park has also been involved with the CEMS/Banneker
partnership, a program that focuses on mathematics and science
education. All of these partnerships contribute to providing Miller
Park students an excellent education.
