^{_{In READING our focus is to become ASE READERS.  ASE stands for Accuracy, Speed, and Expression.  Fluency is our most important goal because once this is accomplished, we can focus on understanding what we read.   At the end of second grade, we should be able to read 90 words per minute.}}
