 Greetings from the PTO President
I would like to send a warm welcome to all Joslyn Elementary School families! As the children prepare for a new year, it is time for us as parents to help them reach their full potential. One of the ways is through Joslyn’s PTO.
We are very fortunate at Joslyn to have a strong and successful PTO. Being a member of the PTO provides an important opportunity to be an active partner in your child’s education. You will interact with staff, teachers, and other parents to keep Joslyn a stimulating, educational environment for our children. Enrichment is a big part of what we do. We plan special family events throughout the year such as family fun nights and classroom parties. We also plan events to honor our teachers and staff. We sponsor service projects such as poinsettia and geranium sales, spirit wear, yearbooks, and school gifts. Our fundraising activities allow the PTO to fund field trips, extra school activities, college scholarships, and so much more.
In your back to school night folders there is a list of PTO board positions and committees. I invite you to look it over and see if there is something that may fit into your interests and schedule. There are many committees that can be done from home. You do no need to serve on a committee to be a part of the PTO, but we welcome every helping hand.
Joining the PTO is a great way to meet other parents, be informed of what is happening at your child’s school, contribute to a great learning environment and have fun in the process. We urge you to join, and with each membership a school directory is provided. Your child will also receive a “positive pat” for every meeting you attend.
PTO meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. Babysitting is available for $1.00. Our first meeting will be on September 9th. I look forward to seeing you there!
