Edward “McCraren” Creighton
- Edward A. Creighton was a businessman and builder of telegraph lines.
- Creighton was born on August 31, 1820 and died in 1874.
- He came to Omaha in l857.
- He became involved in several business ventures in Omaha, including wagon freighting, merchandising, real estate, banking, railroading and ranching.
- Creighton brothers invested heavily in the Union Pacific Railroad.
- He contracted for grading for the Union Pacific Railroad and put up its telegraph lines.
- He had hoped to build an institution of learning in Omaha.
- Mary W. Creighton, provided the initial funds for Creighton University in l875 through her will.
- He was president of the First National Bank in Omaha from its founding in l863 until his death on November 5, l874.
