Our class is beginning a new Word Study unit.  As a curriculum it is referred to as Sitton Spelling.  It is a hands-on curriculum that is based on the students level of word study and builds on that.  It continually builds on words already study and reviews them weekly.  The students spelling words come from Cloze story tests that the kids take at the end of the unit.

If the students don't miss words on the Cloze story test, then their weekly words come from our 4th grade Core Words list.  These are words that 4th grade students should be able to read, write, and use by the end of the grade level.

The lists are provided as a link below along with the weekly activity sheet the students use to prepare themselves for the lessons we do as a whole group.
