Hartman Hartman Walking Club News...

Hartman Hawks, we need to get out there and WALK!  Spring is here and when it is warmer, we hope to improve our fitness and what better way than with exercise.  So... What would be better?  Check out the south wall in the gym for those who are walking.  There are at least 7 students walking on a regular basis...

          GOOD JOB HAWKS!

Let's double that number next week.  Remember that you need a parent permission form signed before you can start walking.  Watch for future Walking Awards.

Hartman's focus is on preparing all students academically to acquire success. Teachers use a variety of strategies such as differentiation, tiered assignments, special projects, flexible grouping, compacting curriculum, and subject acceleration when necessary, so all Hartman students can reach their highest potential. Furthermore, Hartman sets high expectations for all students to be safe, responsible, and respectful citizens. These expectations are life skills that will be beneficial for all students throughout their lives.

You know how hard it can be at times to give your child your full attention.  Imagine what it's like to be a teacher with 25 students, each wanting attention now.  That's why one of the most helpful things you can do as a parent is to help your child respect the teacher's time by teaching him/her to take turns and cooperate.

Here are some fun ways to practice:

Play "I Talk, You Talk."  With your child, practice talking and waiting for the other person to finish.

Make Cooperation a "Family Affair."  Set a timer for 15 minutes and have everyone run through the house picking up clutter.  Reward the group effort with extra reading time.
