CRT Definitions of Performance Levels

 

Performance Levels are specific descriptions of student proficiency for an individual standard. The rubric definitions below may be used as a general guideline for describing the knowledge and understanding level of a student on a specific content standard. *Beginning and Progressing are nonmastery levels. Proficient and Advanced are mastery levels.

Level Definition

Beginning
(BEG)

The student is limited in knowledge and understanding. He/She does not demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts and/or skills.

Progressing
(PRG)

The student is somewhat knowledge, but displays gaps in understanding. He/She demonstrates a limited understanding of the concepts and/or skills.

Proficient
(PRF)

The student's knowledge and understanding about the topic indicates satisfactory performance. He/She demonstrates adequate understanding of the concepts and/or skills, but may include misconceptions or some inaccurate information.

Advanced
(ADV)

The student is extremely knowledgeable and demonstrates in-depth understanding of the concepts and/or skills
