Dear Fontenelle Community,
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! Our wonderful Fontenelle Community and all of you are right at the top of the list of things I am thankful for this year. We have many reasons to be grateful. Our wonderful building is a great place for learning. We have families that are dedicated to our children and their education. We have a terrific staff that is positive and enthusiastic about teaching and learning. Our community and business partners understand and support our mission of working together to achieve excellence in education. We truly want each of our students to reach his or her very highest potential. We want to prepare them well, because they are the future.
We continue to work to ensure that our students know their math facts. We are putting the names of students who master addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts in this newsletter. Our goal is not to have a competition but to have each child improving his or her personal best. Practice at home really helps with speed and accuracy in recalling math facts. Once the basic math facts are routine and committed to memory, it makes working actual math problems so much easier. Thanks so much for all of your help! We couldn’t do it without you!
Reading is another area of major emphasis. Reading with or to your children at home every day will really help them become better readers. Reading is fundamental to success in all subject areas, so the time you spend reading together is time well spent.
We are very proud of our students and the great work that they are doing. I hope you read and enjoy their writing in this newsletter as much as I do. We look forward to seeing you at the Winter Program on Friday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
Thank you!
Kathleen Peterson
