Hello and Welcome to Room 108!

Mrs. Scarpello and I are looking forward to working with you and your child this year.  We have many fun things planned for the students and we encourage you to come up to school for a visit, whenever you are able!

 What we're working on in the classroom...

The Daily 5!

Read to Self:  The best way to become a better reader is by practicing each day, with books you choose and are a "Good Fit".

Working on Writing:  Just like reading the best way to become a better writer is by practicing each day.

Read to Someone:  Partner reading allows for more time to practice strategies, helping to work on fluency, check for understanding, hear your own voice and time to share in this learning community.

Word Works:  Expanded vocabulary and correct spelling allows for more fluent reading and writing thus speeding up the ability to comprehend what is read and get thinking down on paper.

Listen to Reading:  Hearing good examples of literature and fluent reading expands your vocabulary, builds stamina and helps you become a better reader.

I’ve been a teacher in the Omaha Public School district for over three decades.  I started my career at Wakonda Elementary teaching second grade, and was lucky enough to come to Field Club the year before the new building was complete! 

I started at "old" Field Club in 1984 and the new building was complete in 1985.  The “new” Field Club is comprised of five former OPS elementary schools: 
Jackson, Mason, Park, Windsor and of course, the original Field Club. 

I love Field Club school and am very proud to have been here since the “new beginning”.

I have two wonderful children - Laurie and Chris.

I have two very special friends at home... my cats, Santana and Kitty!  I adopted Santana during the Summer of 2007 and Kitty joined our family in July 2009!
