 Ms. Davis-Stone has been teaching 5th grade for 12 years, 5 of them at
Field Club. She is married and has a 16 year old son at Burke High School and 2
Stepdaughters.

This fall we are working on decimals and fractions in math. If you want to help your
child with basic math skills, get some flashcards and play games with them at
home....every little bit helps!!!
If you need sets of flashcards have your child ask me, and I will make sure they have
some to bring home.

We are working on the water cycle in science and will be taking the CRT tests on this
concept soon.

In our reading class we are working on the novel "Among the Hidden". This is a
wonderful book set in a futuristic time when the government has decreed that each
family can only have 2 children. The story focuses on the character of Luke who is a
"shadow child" (a third child) that has to be kept hidden by his family.
This story has already created some terrific classroom discussions. Ask your student
about it, and let them tell you all about it!!

On Oct. 10th we will be going on an all day field trip to The Plum Creek Literary Festival
in Seward Nebraska. This will be a long, but fun trip. Remember to ask your student if
they volunteered to bring their lunch from home!!
