 FIELD CLUB ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Minimize

Jeff Tabor, Engineer, and Bob Pedersen, Custodian, create incredible seasonal displays for the planters under the stairways in the commons. This is just one example of what the staff does to make Field Club Elementary a pleasant learning environment.

Mrs. Hayes-Roddy, Art Teacher, also adds to the inviting feel of our building by putting up displays of the incredible artwork our students produce. Mrs. Hayes-Roddy regularly changes the displays so be sure to stop by often to enjoy our students' work.

 Welcome Minimize
Field Club Elementary School is located in the historic midtown Field Club neighborhood. We will begin the 2008-2009 school year with approximately 670 students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Field Club is a very diverse school and serves students with many backgrounds and educational needs. Field Club’s student body consists of approximately 52% Hispanic students, 32% Caucasian students, and 15% African American. The remaining student population consists of Asian and Native American.
Many of the Hispanic students come to us with English as a second language. The majority of our black students are ethnic Somali-Bantu students. Over 57% of our student population qualify for English as a Second Language services. The ELL students are assisted through ESL trained classroom teachers and ESL resource personnel.
In addition to ESL programs, Field Club Elementary School serves students with special education needs through our Resource and speech/language programs. These include students with learning disabilities, mild mental handicapping conditions, specific behavioral disorders as well as other health impairments. These students complete the majority of their work in a regular classroom setting with the support of the special education staff.
Field Club students also receive extension activities/lessons through the district Gifted and Talented program and intermediate students are eligible to participate in strings and band instruction.
In addition to classroom work, Field Club students benefit from partnerships with community programs and services. Field Club Elementary is a participant in the Winners Circle and All Our Kids programs. All Field Club students either attend performances or work with the staff of the Omaha Theater for Young People through their “Every Single Child” program. Students also participate in many field trips outside the building (Gifford Farm, Henry Doorly Zoo, Durham Western Heritage Museum).
Field Club’s diversity is one of our biggest assets but it is also one of our biggest challenges. The Field Club staff works very hard in order to ensure that all our students are successful and meet district, state and federal academic achievement requirements. This includes a wide array of support staff (reading teachers, Title I teachers, paraprofessionals, instructional facilitators, counselors, and district personnel).
The staff also works in close partnership with parents to foster good attendance, study habits, and citizenship.
You are welcome to visit Field Club any time we are in session. All visitors are asked to enter through the main doors on Walnut Street and are required to sign in at the main office. We hope to see you soon.
