EXCELS
Minimize
In 1994, the Omaha Public Schools began implementation of the EXCELS process, an accreditation model focused on student achievement and participation in school and learning. This cycle was completed in 2000. The 2000-2001 school year was the planning year for the next cycle, which was identified as EXCELS PLUS. This model, outlined by the North Central Association, is used as a basis for the State of Nebraska accreditation of schools. This cycle was completed in 2005. The EXCELS PLUS Model was reviewed and improved for 2005-2010. District-wide schools use the EXCELS PLUS 2005 –2010 model for school improvement planning.

The mission of the Field Club Elementary School is to provide the opportunity for students to develop their fullest potential, enhance their self-esteem, and prepare to become responsible and productive citizens.
Field Club's plan focuses on identified needs in the areas of reading (comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary), written communication, mathematical problem solving skills, and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.

EXCELS PLUS Goals
  • All students will increase reading comprehension across the curriculum.
  • All students will improve writing skills across the curriculum.
  • All students will improve problem-solving skills across the curriculum.
  • All students will demonstrate respect and responsibility for others in the learning environment and during school activities.

An Action Plan is developed to help staff and students achieve our goals. The plan includes instructional strategies to assist all students and a professional staff development plan to assist the staff in developing and uses the best instructional practices available. The Action Plan is reviewed annually and changes are made for the next academic school year as needed.

The full EXCELS Plus Plan is available for review. Please contact the principal to make an appointment.
