Courses Taught by Mrs. Ferraini:
➢    General Music: All students Grades K- 6.  Students receive a minimum 90 instructional minutes in a 10-day cycle.  General Music classes use the textbook Spotlight on Music 2005.

➢    Conestoga Honors Chorus Grades 5 & 6:  This is a select group of 5th and 6th graders that enjoy singing.  This group meets 60 minutes in a 10-day cycle besides their regular music class.

Kindergarten - Grade 3
Content Standards


    01   Demonstrate basic vocal technique through performance.
         
*   Sing a pentatonic scale wit pitch accuaracy.
          *   Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice.

    02   Read melodic and rhythmic patterns.
         
*   Use basic rhythm patterns.
          *   Use melodic patterns that ascend, descend or stary the same.
          *   Use duple meter.

    03   Perform on unpitched instruments.
          *   Play a steady beat on instrument. (with others)
          *   Play the rhythm of a known song.
          *   Use instruments properly.

    04   Identify symbols and musical language by sight or sound.
          *   Identify Instrumental families.
          *   Identify patterns that ascend, descend, or stay the same.
          *   Identify form (same/ different).
          *   Identify basic symbols.

   
General Vocal Music
Grades 4 -6
Content Standards

    01   Demonstrate basic vocal technique through performance.
         
*   Sing a diatonic scale wit pitch accuaracy.
          *   Sing harmony.
          *   Use correct posture.

    02   Read melodic and rhythmic patterns.
         
*   Use rhythm patterns that include syncopatd and dotted rhythms.
          *   Identify repeated tones, steps, skips, and leaps in a melodic pattern.
          *   Use triple meter.

    03   Perform on unpitched instruments.
          *   Play a steady beat on instrument (alone).
          *   Play the rhythm of a known song.
          *   Play a 2-part pattern using beat and rhythm.
          *   Use instruments properly.

    04   Identify symbols and musical language by sight or sound.
          *   Identify individual instruments.
          *   Identify form (AB, ABA, and Rondo).
          *   Identify basic symbols, adding dynamic markings and language.
