The Winners Circle Educational Program was developed in 1996, from an "Adopt-a-School" relationship between Cookie and Jerry Hoberman, owners of Tires Inc., and Belvedere Academy. The key elements of the program are based upon the incentive system of setting goals and recognizing goal achievement applied by Mr. Hoberman at his business, Tires Inc.
Winners Circle works to improve the academic achievement and citizenship of students in our 12 participating elementary schools. Students participate in The Winners Circle by setting goals for themselves in math, reading, and citizenship each quarter.
Once students have set their goals, Goal Buddies, community volunteers from local corporations, visit two classrooms twice a quarter to encourage students to meet their goals. Once students reach their goals, they are rewarded and recognized at the Winners Circle Celebration. Other elements of the program include; promoting parents' and guardians' involvement in their students' education and fostering school cohesiveness, identity and pride by providing uniform polo shirts to each school.
