Area and Perimeter
Minimize

Perimeter= Area around the outside of an object. A great example of perimter would be the fence in your backyard.

To find perimter you have to add up all the outside edges.

Example: A square with all sides equalling 5 feet would have the perimeter of 5+5+5+5=20 feet You add up 5 four times since a square has four sides!

Area= The area inside an object. A great example would be the grass in your backyard, or carpet in the room.

To find the area you need to add up all the units or take lenght times width.

Example: A square will the sides equalling 5 feet would have the area of 5x5=25 squared feet. Or you could draw out the object and count all the boxes.

Math

Skill: Measurement

Fourth graders need to make sure they are studying their math facts every night. This will help students when we move on to double-digit multiplication and long division.

Students will have an application assignment almost evey day. However, they will be given work time in school to complete, any unfinished work will become homework.
