Greetings from the PTO President
I would like to send a warm welcome to all Columbian Elementary School families! As our children prepare for a wonderful year, it is time for us as parents to help them reach their full potential. One of the ways is through the Columbian Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
We at Columbian are very fortunate to have a strong and successful PTO. If you are a new family to Columbian, I would like to encourage you to become involved in the PTO. Not only is it beneficial to your children but PTO events are great ways to meet other parents and keep abreast of the many activities at school.
The Columbian PTO has over 40 terrific committees that you can become involved in. We are still in need of a few committee chair people and each committee chairperson is in need of lots of volunteers. Great volunteers make a successful PTO.
Enclosed in your “First Day Packet” you will find pink PTO Interest Indicator sheets. All PTO information is printed on pink paper. Please take some time to look it over and return to the office as soon as possible.
Columbian’s PTO has purchased many, many items for the school. A few items purchased by the PTO include computers, classroom/library and teacher supplies. The PTO also funds a field trip for each classroom during the school year.
The Columbian PTO meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in the teachers’ lounge. However, we will have two meetings in the evening. Therefore, our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 4 at 6:00 p.m. Then going forward the meetings will be on Wednesday mornings.
I look forward to meeting new Columbian families as well as seeing returning families. Together we can work to provide the best learning environment for our Columbian children! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
