1st Quarter Objectives
Minimize



Kindergarten - First Quarter
Identify and use four voices
Sing tunefully in a head voice within a range of a major 6th
Identify and demonstrate heartbeat
Play a steady beat on an instrument (with others)
Identify and demonstrate fast and slow
Identify and demonstrate loud and soft
Show correct body position for playing mallet instruments

Grade 1 - First Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing a pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Identify and demonstrate heartbeat
    Play a steady beat on an instrument (with others)
    Play the rhythm of a known song
    Demonstrate the difference between heartbeat and rhythm
    Use basic rhythm patterns
    Identify and demonstrate sol and mi
    Identify basic symbols
    Play hands together and alternating on mallet instruments
    Perform folk dances in circles and lines

Grade 2 - First Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing pentatonic songs with pitch accuracy
    Use basic rhythm patterns
    Identify and demonstrate mi, sol and la
    Identify AB form
    Identify basic symbols
    Identify and play chord bordun on mallet instruments
    Perform basic folk dance formations and steps

Grade 3 - First Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
Sing an extended pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
Sing rounds and canons
Use basic rhythm patterns
Identify and demonstrate half rest
Identify and demonstrate whole rest
Play a steady beat on an instrument
Play the rhythm of a known song using known rhythms
Identify basic symbols
Play chord, levels and broken borduns on mallet instruments
Perform folk dances including double circle

Grade 4 - First Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
Sing an incomplete diatonic song with pitch accuracy
Use partner songs and countermelodies
Use basic rhythm patterns
Identify and demonstrate fa in various patterns
Play a steady beat on an instrument (alone)
Play the rhythm of a known song using known rhythms
Use standard symbols (including dynamic & tempo markings)
Perform folk dances including basic steps

Grade 5 - First Quarter
    Sing a diatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
    Sing partner songs and countermelodies
    Identify and demonstrate ti in various patterns
    Play a steady beat on an instrument (alone)
    Play the rhythm of a known song using known rhythms
    Use standard symbols, dynamic and tempo markings
    Perform folk dances including all known figures

Grade 6 - 1st Quarter
Sing on pitch
Review Major scale pattern
Sing in harmony
Identify steps, skips, leaps on the staff
Practice and perform steady beat & rhythm
Identify AB and ABA form
