Second Quarter Objectives
Minimize

Kindergarten - Third Quarter
Sing tunefully in a head voice
Improvise texts and motions to known songs
Use basic rhythm patterns in iconic notation
Identify and demonstrate high and low
Identify and demonstrate patterns that ascend, descend or stay the same
Perform folk dances

Grade 1 - Third Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing a pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Use rhythm patterns including ta, ti-ti and ta rest
    Use melodic patterns that ascend, descend or repeat
    Identify and demonstrate la in various patterns
    Use duple meter
    Identify and demonstrate two-beat rhythmic ostinati
    Identify basic symbols
    Play a chord bordun on mallet instruments

Grade 2 - Third Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing pentatonic songs with pitch accuracy
    Sing using melodic ostinati
    Use basic rhythm patterns
    Identify and demonstrate ta-a-a-a as a four-beat rhythm
    Identify and demonstrate four-beat meter
    Identify and demonstrate do, re and mi
    Identify and demonstrate do, re, mi, and sol
Identify and demonstrate do, re, mi, sol and la
Identify basic symbols
Identify and play chord, levels and broken borduns
    Perform folk dances including changing partner

Grade 3 - Third Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs
Sing an extended pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
Sing rounds and canons
Identify and demonstrate tiTA ti as a two-beat pattern
Identify and demonstrate high do
Identify repeated tones, steps, skips, and leaps
Identify absolute pitch names in treble clef
Identify basic symbols
Play chord, levels, broken and crossover borduns

Perform folk dances including right & left hand stars

Grade 4 - Third Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs
Sing an incomplete diatonic song with pitch accuracy
Use partner songs and countermelodies
Identify and demonstrate internal anacrusis
Identify and demonstrate half and whole steps
Identify theme & variation form
Use standard symbols

Grade 5 - Third Quarter   
Sing a diatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs
    Sing two-part songs
    Identify rondo form
    Use standard symbols, dynamic and tempo markings
  
Grade 6 - 3rd Quarter
Sing on pitch
Practice scales and modes
Sing in harmony
Review all known rhythms
Rondo and symphonic forms
