Second Quarter Objectives
Minimize

Kindergarten - Second Quarter
Sing tunefully in a head voice
Improvise motions to known songs
Identify and demonstrate short and long
Identify and demonstrate high and low
Play the rhythm of a known song
Identify and demonstrate hands together and taking turns on mallet instruments
Perform folk dances - Circle right & left

Grade 1 - Second Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing a pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Identify and demonstrate the rhythm ta
    Identify and demonstrate the rhythm ti-ti
    Identify and demonstrate the ta rest
    Identify and demonstrate an understanding that ta, ti-ti and ta rest
    Identify basic symbols
    Play a chord bordun on mallet instruments
    Perform folk dances including promenade

Grade 2 - Second Quarter

    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using head voice
    Sing pentatonic songs with pitch accuracy
    Use basic rhythm patterns
Identify and demonstrate ta-a as a two-beat rhythm
Identify and demonstrate do, mi, and sol         
    Identify and demonstrate do, mi, sol and la
Identify verse/refrain form
Identify basic symbols
Identify and play chord, levels and broken borduns on mallet instruments
Perform folk dances including cast & arch

Grade 3 - Second Quarter
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
Sing an extended pentatonic song with pitch accuracy
Sing rounds and canons
Use basic rhythm patterns
Identify and demonstrate ti tika and tika ti as a one-beat
Identify and demonstrate low la
Identify and demonstrate low sol
Identify AB and ABA form
Identify basic symbols
Play crossover bordun on mallet instruments
Perform folk dances including lines of boys and girls

Grade 4 - Second Quarter

    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
Sing an incomplete diatonic song with pitch accuracy
Use partner songs and countermelodies
Identify and demonstrate tom-ti  and ti-tom  as 2-beat patterns
Identify and demonstrate ta-a-a
Use triple meter
Use standard symbols
Play all borduns on mallet instruments
Perform folk dances including grand right & left

Grade 5 - Second Quarter
    Sing a diatonic song with pitch accuracy
    Sing from a varied repertoire of songs using the head voice
    Sing partner songs and countermelodies
    Identify and demonstrate tim-ri and ri-tim
    Use standard symbols, dynamic and tempo markings
    Demonstrate fluency with mallet instruments
    Perform folk dances including reel the set

Grade 6 - 2nd Quarter
Sing on pitch
Identify Major/minor scales and modes
Sing in harmony
Review all known rhythms
Review 6/8, ¾ and meter
