Catlin Elementary - Omaha Public Schools
Welcome to Strings / Instrumental Music, Mrs Cambron

Thank you for visiting the Catlin String website.

I have been the string teacher at Catlin since 1988.  Since we became a magnet center for arts education in 2000, I have had the privilege of teaching most of Catlin's students.  Every second and third grader at Catlin studies the violin.  In fourth, fifth, and sixth grades,  most students continue their string instruction with the option of learning violin, viola, cello, or string bass.

Besides my duties as the string teacher, I work closely with community artists and organizations to bring artists-in-residence and professional performers to Catlin.
I perform regularly as a professional violinist.

This quote sums up my philosophy of music education:  "Talent is no accident of birth...Ability is one thing we can produce ourselves (through repetition)."  --Shinichi Suzuki, from Nurtured by Love: A New Approach to Talent Education, 1969.
