CAT TESTING California Achievement Testing (CAT) will begin this week. All second, fourth, fifth and sixth graders will take this standardized test. We will have a kick-off to remind and encourage students to do their best on Monday, March 17 at 10:00 AM. You can best help by making sure that your student is here on time each and every day. Students will continue to take the test until completion or April 3, 2008.
EXCELS Take a moment to stop in and tour the hallways to see the exciting purposeful writing and learning that is taking place. Every day we are moving right along in helping our students to reach their grade level standards and beyond. Our Pre-kindergartners are learning letter sounds and shapes. Our kindergartners are writing fourth graders are writing poetry. Our Fifth graders are working hard on multiplying fractions. Our sixth graders are learning about current events and how the current events effect them.
SUMMER SCHOOL Summer School dates will be June 2-June 20, from 8:30-2:00. Beals will be offering an extended learning opportunity for our students that would benefit the most from it. This is a teacher recommended program. Applications will be available during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Parent-Teacher Conferences Please contact your students teacher if you have not yet scheduled a time to participate in a parent teacher conference for your student. Our goal is to meet with every parent here at Beals during conference.
PTA NEWS PTA sends a huge thank you to the families that participated in our Fundraiser. The money raised allowed PTA to provide teachers with gift certificates to purchase materials for classroom use.
Please require that your student participate in the Beals Daily Three: 1. Reads to him/herself 2. Reads aloud to someone 3. Listens to someone reading The more students read the better readers they become!
Beals Star Book Club The time is ticking, it is almost time to celebrate your student making their third quarter reading goal. Keep reading, the next Beals Bobcat reading celebration is on March 26, 2008.

The Omaha Fire Department wants every home in the city of Omaha to have at least one working Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detector. We will come to your residence and install one detector FREE of charge. If you don't have a detector, contact us at 444-3560 to request a visit. Having a smoke/CO alarm is the best way to protect your family from fire and carbon monoxide. Don't forget to change your detector batteries every 6 months with daylight savings time!!
