You are cordially invited to our Recognition Program
Honoring the Sixth Grade Students of Beals Elementary.
The program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
on Thursday, May 26, 2005
In our multipurpose room.
Plan to attend as we celebrate with our Sixth Graders!

                                    Market Day

This is quite the day!  The Sixth Grade students practice their math skills and salesmanship by bringing items to school to sell!  Blankets are arranged in the gym and the students sell their items to other classes that visit the gym!  Students have to learn what products to sell, what price to sell them for, pay a blanket fee for the space, esperience how to make a profit, and how to make change!  They also do a little bartering!  If you have a minute, stop in and see the festivities tomorrow, Friday, May 6th.  Students will be in the gym after 2:00 pm.  Encourage your kiddos that may be in other classes to bring a couple of dollars if they would like to purchase something.  Pop, candy, bracelets, cars, cards, pens, etc. have been sold in the past.

                                    Back to School

Are we thinking about this already?  We sure are!   During the first couple of weeks of August, you will receive a Fall Opening Letter in the mail.  There will be a letter from Omaha Public Schools and a letter from Beals.  If you are receiving transportation, that will also arrive in a separate mailing in August.  The letter from Beals will have details of the first day of school and reminders of where your child’s pick up and drop off areas will be stationed.  Make sure your address is correct so you don't miss this important information!

This letter will, also, inform you of your child’s room number assignment.  When making placements in classrooms, we consider many different characteristics.   We look at the number of males, females, ethnic background, citizenship/behaviors, teaching styles, learning styles, students to teacher ratio, combination rooms, and academic ability.  The teachers, counselor and principal work together professionally to prepare class lists based on all of these factors.  This task is taken very seriously and we appreciate your understanding when you review your child’s room number next fall.

End of Year

If your child will not be attending Beals next year or if you have a change of address or phone number, please call the school office.  We want to be sure your child’s records are accurate and in the proper place so that you can receive any communications sent during the summer months.

Report Cards

Report Cards will be coming home on Friday, May 27th.  If your child will not be in school, we will mail the card home to you providing all fines are paid.  If report cards are held, it can be retrieved from the school office when the fines are paid until June 8th.
