    Welcome!

I am very excited to be part of King Elementary this year.  This year will be filled with fun and learning.

Students are working hard to get those addition and subtraction facts memorized.  Later in the year we will be starting multiplication facts.   Practice, Practice, Practice!  This month we are learning comparison of numbers and placing them in order of least to greatest or greatest to least.  Always we are working on telling time and counting money.  Any practice at home is very beneficial.

I am currently reading BFG to students, as well as Shel Silverstein's poetry.  As students are reading they are always looking for characters, setting, three important events, and the ending.   Read! Read! Read!

We are presently studying natural resources in Science.  Students are becoming more aware of recycling and taking care of our earth.

Social Studies is centered on Omaha history.  We have gone through the 1700 and 1800's.  Student wrote a fictional story about what they would do if they had been with Lewis and Clark exploring the Louisiana Territory.  Some exciting adventures where told.

In October we will begin cursive writing.  The students are thrilled to begin this new venture.

Thank you to everyone for attending Open House. Mr. Hernandez, Jenelle's father, won the raffle and received his scarecrow.  Thank you again for coming.  I was so happy to meet all of the adults in my students' lives.

Please feel free to contact me at any time!

I enjoy your children and we are all "Getting Smarter Everyday!"

Thank you for letting me be a part of your child's life.

Sincerely,

Sharon Housh
