About the Program

The Independent Study Program is a self-paced, homework-based opportunity designed to aid students pursuing a high school diploma. The program offers all required core courses as well as selected electives in online or traditional class settings. As an integral part of the OPS education team, all teachers are certified in the primary subjects they teach.

Independent Study's aim is to help students overcome impediments to their education. In this capacity, the program functions as a temporary placement for some students and as permanent placement for others. Many students are involved in work, daytime committments, and have other concerns that make attending a traditional setting difficult. The Independent Study Program offers flexible scheduling, allowing the learner to handle both life and educational needs successfully.

The Independent StudyProgram recommends that all students take full advantage of our seven traditional high schools as the best route to a high school diploma.
