Morton Middle School is located at 4606 Terrace Drive in northwest Omaha. Morton Middle School opened its doors in 1965 and is named for J. Sterling Morton. Morton is remembered for his lifelong interest in trees and is given credit for originating Arbor Day. This middle school serves a diverse student population of over 700 seventh and eighth graders. Morton offers a wide variety of programs serving students with a range of abilities and learning styles. Some of these programs are the special education, speech therapy, and the gifted and talented program. The parents and school community members provide volunteer and financial assistance for academic and extracurricular opportunities through the Adopt-A-School program and a most active Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
