A tornado struck the school on May 6, 1975, and the building was totally renovated before reopening for students. Lewis and Clark provides a diverse student population with instruction in regular and special education and English as a Second Language. Students are assigned to interdisciplinary teams for instruction in language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and reading. Lewis and Clark has several Adopt-a-School partners who actively support the school in many ways to benefit the students. In addition, the Blazer Club (parent-teacher organization) provides support and financial assistance to the school.
