Transfers between schools occur for a variety of reasons, including a change of family residence and as a response to student and family needs, including the need for transportation.
Transfers within the Student Assignment Plan
At the elementary level the PLAN allows a student in grades kindergarten through six to attend a home attendance area (neighborhood) school based on the student's home address or to attend an "option" school (other than the neighborhood school) on a space-available basis. Transportation may be provided to the neighborhood school and to option schools according to the provisions of the Student Assignment Plan.
At the middle school level, students may attend the neighborhood middle school or request attendance of an "option" school. Transportation may be provided to the neighborhood school and to option schools according to the provisions of the Student Assignment Plan.
At the high school level, students may attend the neighborhood high school or request attendance of an "option" school on a space-available basis. Transportation may be provided to the neighborhood school and to option schools according to the provisions of the Student Assignment Plan.
Requesting a transfer
ALL transfer requests are made by the parent/guardian submitting a School Transfer Request (STR) to the Student Placement Office. Verification of address is required before any transfer request can be considered.
