Our Mission

In an attempt to address health disparities, and improve the health of the whole child, the Omaha Public Schools and Building Bright Futures began working together on a plan that would provide quality health care for Omaha area students. The planning resulted in the implementation of school-based health centers (SBHC), which are on-site health centers that promote the health and educational success of school-aged children. Through this combined effort, they hope to reach students in the Omaha Public School district who: do not have access to quality health care because they lack a medical home or a routine primary care provider; are uninsured; or have chronic illnesses or conditions that cause them to miss school.. These health care issues can have a tremendous impact on a student’s ability to succeed in the classroom.
